For more than a decade, I've worked in premium beauty distribution. A lot of product has passed through my hands, and very little of it has made it onto my face.

Time and again, I noticed a contrast between the results a product promised and what I found in the formula. Often, the immediate results people saw came from ingredients designed to make skin look better in the moment. Sometimes, those same ingredients did little to support the quality of skin over time.

I wanted something that felt good and was good. I wanted a formula that showcased the exceptional beauty of natural ingredients and brought them together through modern skincare technologies.

Ultimately, it was my friend Evan of Monteman Barber in Brooklyn who challenged me to turn the concept into a creation. That first product, Monteman Rejuvenating Oil, was so well received that it inspired me to develop a facial oil for some of the most challenging skin I knew, my own.

Extensive research into how skin works, especially the skin barrier, helped me understand that my problem skin needed less control and more support, nurture, and comfort. Given the right resources, skin has a remarkable ability to support and renew itself.
