My mother was born in Tunisia to a family of Sicilian origin and raised in the south of France. Her father traded precious oils, and I grew up with sweet almond, argan, and lavender. I enjoyed them, but none were enough to save my adolescent skin. As my sister-in-law once put it, “Teenage is a very difficult time to have a face.”

I tried a lot of skincare, but never imagined working with it. My focus was law, philosophy, religion, and mysticism. Providence led me back. What began as a single opportunity grew into more than a decade in prestige beauty distribution.

My work gave me access to thousands of products. I tried many of them, especially the bestsellers — comparing the hero ingredient to what was actually delivering the results people saw in the mirror. I learned what worked, for whom, and for what problem. Eventually I began consulting, helping clients choose the ideal product for their skin.

I became interested in formulas that could support the quality of skin over time — resilience, comfort, tone, and the way it feels even when nothing is on it.

A trip back to North Africa brought me back to oils. I came home with myrrh, sweet almond, and argan, which became my personal regimen. That experience showed me what I wanted to preserve — the affinity and richness of oils — and what the finished formula would need to achieve in stability, scent, and feel. I began combining the most potent naturals with modern ingredients to get there.

My barber Evan commissioned me to embody that belief in a ready-to-wear product for his clients at Monteman in Brooklyn. The feedback was positive and encouraging. Over the next several years I kept researching and reformulating around three questions: What does skin need to be healthy? How much of that can live in a single formula? And how seamless can it be to use?

Those questions became SEVRE. The name draws on the Semitic root for countenance. It echoes the clarity and luminosity of French Sèvres porcelain, and the French sevrer — to release from reliance. In this case, from complicated, multi-step regimens. SEVRE doesn’t promise flawless skin.
